BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Bakersfield Fire Department and Kern County Fire Departments are cracking down on illegal fireworks. Both departments reported an increase in illegal firework activity. Because of this, the BFD has established teams of unmarked vehicles and fire engine companies to issue $1,000 citations to those who violate fireworks laws.

Citizens are encouraged to call the non-emergency phone lines — 661-324-6551 or 661-324-4542 — to report the illegal use of fireworks,

Illegal fireworks can also now be reported on the Kern County Fire Department website by going to kerncountyfire.org and filling out the form to submit to the department.
